January 2012
In January, Image Gallery is continuing to keep busy with many crowns, and a growing number of implants. Since the start of our abutment program with Stoner Periodontic Specialists, we have seen quite a surge of new dentists trying out our lab, with results being positive for both dentist and patient. Although using our lab for the abutment program does not mean the dentist has to have the crown made here, there are many dentists who are taking advantage of the ease with making both at the same time. We are excited about these new prospects and encourage anyone to try out our crowns at least once – if not many times to truly get a taste for the great products we have to offer.

Image Gallery experienced its usual busyness that surrounds the holiday season, creating a massive amount of crowns during the month of December. Along with our average 5 day turn around time, we truly were pushing our work load to the max, and yet still able to complete every case by the due date AND put out the great crowns our dentists have come to expect. During our constantly busy schedule, we were fortunate enough to be able to take an afternoon off after the Christmas break and have a great work luncheon at Bravo. There we discussed what changes 2012 will bring and what we are looking forward to, such as company growth and potential new clients. Image Gallery is constantly striving to improve, and in order to do so, we are always looking for continuing education for every member of our team. This month one of our technicians, Justin, will be traveling to New York City to study with a well known leader in the cosmetic dental field: Peter Pizzi CDT, MDT. Justin will be attending an in depth two day course where he will be learning about different build up, stain & glaze techniques, as well as shape, occlusion, shading, contour and layering. Peter Pizzi is a Master Ceramist and is truly among the top technicians and leaders in our field. This will enable us to help serve our clients better.

In early October, the entire Image Gallery team attended the annual Ohio Dental Laboratory Association meeting in downtown Columbus. The conference was an all day event concerning the future of Dental Laboratories, and we were the only laboratory to have brought our whole team. Speakers had varying points of view from very large labs utilizing CAD/CAM Digital Dentistry to very small labs with more artistic ability and a holistic approach towards making a crown; seeing the person as a whole, rather than just a single tooth or model. FDA requirements regarding laboratory standards were also covered because requirements for dental laboratories are constantly changing and becoming more stringent. The meeting was very informative for all members of our team and will help us to grow and make our services even better.

Lonni recently gave a two hour presentation regarding common problems between the laboratory and dental office, titled, “Optimal Techniques for an Outstanding Result: Preventing common problems encountered at the dental lab level.” She gave this lecture in front of a group of dentists involved with the Northeast Study Club in Columbus, Ohio, where they received continuing education credits for their participation. As well, she received a number of compliments and members stating that the topics covered were indeed questions many dentists have, and that it will most definitely help future communication between the lab and dentist’s office. Totally re-vamped website, adding new gallery, news & information
It has been a long time coming, but in case you didn’t notice, Image Gallery now

Implantology Certification Test
Lonni has been asked to be part of the team to write the Implantology test for the
National Board of Certification! She has written many questions over a variety of
topics on her own, and will be traveling two days out of town later in the month
to help oversee the process as a whole.

Image Gallery is very excited to announce we are now on Facebook and Linked IN!
You can follow us by clicking the appropriate links above. Although we will keep
our website up to date with major news, Facebook will be updated constantly with
all updates, news and promotions. Additionally, we have several other “case” photos
on there to be viewed, as well as a more personal connection with the team and lab.

Invested in 2 new Ivoclar ovens
Although the recession is still lingering, Image Gallery has been picking up work
from many new dentists who prefer a better custom laboratory. With these new clients
in mind, Image Gallery invested in two new Ivoclar Vivadent ovens so that we can
maximize our time every day.

AACD 27th Annual Scientific Session in Boston
Lonni enjoyed the 27th annual scientific session in Boston this year. She took classes
offered such as Untangling the Confusion of Today’s Adhesive Materials, Digital
Smile Designs and photography. She enjoyed meeting up with old friends and creating
new networks among peers. Lonni is always excited to attend, as this is one of the
biggest events of the year regarding her specific career interests & there is always
plenty of new and exciting information floating about!

Spring of 2011
Working together with Stoner for abutments
In the spring of 2011, Dr. Stoner and Dr. Murphy met with Lonni and discussed an
idea to create not only better service for their patients, but a more convenient
option for the dentist as well. Through a special “Custom CAD Abutment” program,
Dr. Stoner or Dr. Murphy will now plan out the entire treatment process for the
patient, and then have the lab work (and Atlantis Custom Abutment) completed at
Image Gallery. This teamwork takes quite a burden off of the patient not only because
of Stoner Periodontic & Image Gallery’s working relationship, but also because they
are in the same parking lot! With this great feature, patients can walk from one
office to the other (if necessary) to have their treatment completed!

Switched courier service
Due to gas prices rising and yet still wanting our service to be impeccable, we
decided to make the switch to our new courier service, Same Day Critical. Our driver
arrives to our office around 9:30 AM to pick up cases going out, and delivers and
picks up more cases at your office between 9:45 and 1:00 PM. We would like to thank
Tony, Tanya and Ernie at Same Day Critical for all their help with our transition!

Fall 2010
Updated Lab (paint and counter space)
In an effort to maximize our lab space and boost our surroundings, we had a business
friend paint our entire lab and a separate company add in shelving units and change
our lab around to create more counter space! These changes have been a very helpful
addition with the busy season starting up! We would like to thank Team DDS, Inc.
for their expertise regarding our lab!

Hired Lisa
Lisa came to our team through a mutual friend in May 2010 to fill our position of
office manager. She is responsible for answering phone calls, scheduling, invoicing
& billing, inventory, helping with shades and much more. Although this is her first
time as an office manager, she is a quick learner and has adapted well to our lab.

Lonni passed AACD test, working on accreditation
Lonni was thrilled to receive the letter from the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry,
stating that she had passed the written portion of the test! She is currently working
on the photography requirements and is now considered a sustaining member!

Hired Pat
Pat Murray, C.D.T. joined our team in March 2010. With over 30 years of experience,
he already has the end result in mind even when he’s finishing metal. He is responsible
for all our PFM crowns and bridges, and is a great asset to our team.

Bite Registration Tips and Techniques
Select a bite material that is accurate and stable. Avoid materials that are very
elastic, as they create an inaccurate compression and rebound situation when the
models are articulated. You should be able to cut and trim the material without
it breaking apart. Wax is unsuitable because it will change with temperatures. Luxabite
is ideal.

3M to Acquire Dental Implant Manufacturer
3M announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire IMTEC Corp.,
a manufacturer of dental implants and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanning
equipment for dental and medical radiology headquartered in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Terms
of the transaction were not disclosed.

10TV Reports on Dental Restorations
A report by 10TV in Columbus discussed the importance of safety in dental restoration
materials. Image Gallery receives all its materials from domestic sources, which
have been tested and approved for patient safety. In fact, Image Gallery uses Noritake
and Degussa porcelains. Both companies have been tested by two different scientific
companies, and our porcelains have always been shown to have no lead. We produce
everything in-lab and only use quality materials.

Lonni Thompson Speaks to Dental Group
In February, Image Gallery President Lonni Thompson addressed dentists at the Jefferson
Country Club in New Albany, Ohio on the latest in dental restoration materials and
technology. Her presentation shared insights into the plusses and minuses of all
restoration materials currently on the market, along with their best applications.
Ms. Thompson is a frequent lecturer on dental topics and has taught courses at the
dental schools of The Ohio State University and Columbus State Community College.
